Nightstay – Emergency Overnight Accommodation
Nightstay is a large house that offers emergency accommodation for 16-21 year olds, with 16 & 17 year olds getting priority. There are only seven places available each night, with each person getting their own room. Access to this accommodation is arranged by the homelessness service at Children’s Services for anyone who is 16 & 17 years old (tel: 01204 337376); and by Bolton’s Housing Options Service for anyone aged 18-21 years. (tel: 01204 335830)
This project is run in accordance with strict guidelines. The building is only open to young people from 6.00pm in the evening until 9.00am the following morning (although the house is now open all day on Sunday thanks to a grant from Lloyds TSB Foundation). Everyone has to book in on a daily basis. The front door is locked at 10.30pm, so anyone arriving after then will not be able to get in. But the atmosphere is homely. Evening meal, supper and breakfast are provided. There is a lounge with a television, a games machine and internet access. Group activities are arranged for Sundays.
