Living on the streets was no fun. I was so alone couldn’t talk to anyone. Then one day I found a service. This gave life a lot of purpose. They helped me trust and sort myself out. No longer having to scream and shout. They helped me put my life together. My confidence has got much better!
A specialist team of support workers who are offering extra support to young people who are;
a) at risk of losing an existing placement with us or
b) are experiencing some additional issues
and in both circumstances we want to prevent repeat homelessness.
The team is an amalgamation of what used be the Mentoring Team and the Quest worker. They have been joined by a CSE worker, Mental Health Worker and between them offer enhanced support around sexual exploitation, mental health, domestic abuse, education, training and employment. They will work with young people already accommodated on the BYPHS scheme and young people who are looked after who might not be on the scheme. The aim is to get any young person not engaged with any services doing something positive. This could be formal education but it could also be volunteering, developing routines, accessing appropriate medical care or life skills training.
Most of this service is funded by the Big Lottery. Based in Farnworth they support people all across the borough.
